Big Hill Parks

Several areas are offered by the Corps of Engineers for camping, picnicking & other outdoor activities. Seasonal fees are collected at three of the areas. (For fishing info at Big Hill click here )

Cherryvale Park (Class A)

Located 4 miles east of Cherryvale.

Mound Valley North (Class A) & Mound Valley South (Class A)

Located five miles east of Cherryvale. Located on the main body of Big Hill Lake.

Timber Hill Park (Class B)

Located 5 miles east of Cherryvale. Timber Hill Park is for those who like to get back to nature with the bare minimum.

Chetopa

At Elmore Park, you’ll find plenty of RV parking, a boat ramp, shelter houses, picnic tables, electric and water hook-ups. East Park runs along the Neosho River. Electric hook-ups are available for RVs or campers. (for more info on Chetopa click here )

Idle Hour Lake, Altamont

The Louis P. Gartner Recreational Area is a beautiful, quiet escape to camp, fish or picnic. Rent camp spots or the shelter house by calling (620) 784-5582. The site is open to both tent and RV campers.

Lake Parsons

Campsites with and without electricity are available. Permits are available on a daily or annual basis. Call (620) 421-7030. There is no charge for camping in areas where no improved pad is available. City ordinance limits camping to 10 days per calendar month and not more than 10 consecutive days.

Oswego

Take advantage of Oswego’s two campgrounds. Danny Elliot Park offers five sites, with electric and water. For directions, call (620) 795-4433. Kamp Siesta features 30 sites, electric, water, dump station, restrooms and showers. (for more info on Oswego click here )
